My 9 year old daughter has long hair. Her skin is dry on her scalp and recently she has developed a lot of dandruff . She keeps on scratching and this is actually making the situation worse. Please suggest remedies for dandruff.

    Hi Silka
Indian lilac popularly known as neem can help to treat dandruff. Since it has anti-fungal and anti bacterial properties, it can reduce and treat many hair problems like itchy scalp and even hair fall. Take 4 cups of water and boil a handful of neem leaves. Cool and strain and use the water while washing her hair.

    Hi
You can also use vinegar as it helps to reduce itchy and dry skin and kills dandruff causing fungus and bacteria.Add equal quantities of white vinegar and water and apply it on the scalp skin about an hour before head wash.

    Hi,

Coconut oil is a great oil that helps to reduce dandruff because of its anti-fungal properties. It also moisturizes the dry scalp and will provide relief from itching. Take some coconut oil and add lemon juice to it and rub it on the scalp and massage. leave it for half an hour and them wash the hair.

    Hi,
Aloe vera has a cooling effect and mildly exfoliates the skin and also has anti fungal properties. Gather some aloe vera juice and apply it on the scalp and keep it for half an hour before head wash.

    Hi Silka
You can massage 2 tablespoon of lemon juice and water on the scalp. Lemons acidity helps to balance the pH of the scalp and reduces dandruff. Do this daily until it disappears.

    Hi
Try using selsun anti dandruff shampoo twice a week. It is very effective but if you want natural remedies then lemon juice or vinegar is of great help.

    Hi Silka
Tea tree oil is also very good for dandruff. The oil has exceptional power to fight bacterial and fungal infections. Add few drops of oil to the shampoo and wash normally.

    Hello Silka
I have always seen my mother using baking soda whenever I had dandruff in my hair. It is a mild exfoliant and removes dead skin cells and also absorbs excess oil. Wet the hair and rub a handful of baking soda onto the scalp and then rinse your hair well with warm water.

    Hi
Massage warm olive oil in scalp and cover it with a shower cap overnight. Shampoo the hair next day. This will also reduce dandruff.
