Why do dark circles under eyes appear?

Genetics can be a great culprit behind it and if you have a thin skin under the eyes, chances are high that it becomes more obvious when blood pools there. Another important factor can be the age. Over time the skin becomes thin and loses collagen and so the veins become more prominent and at times the blood leaks from the capillaries making them more visible through the skin.  But for few people the darkness around the eyes is constant and refuses to leave.

Let’s discuss some important doable home remedies that can help you to get rid of them.

Potatoes and cucumber: Grate a raw potato or a cucumber and collect the juice of it. Now take a cotton ball and soak it in the juice and place them on your eyes. Make sure to cover the dark circle under your eyes and eyelids. Keep it for 10 minutes and then wash it off with cold water. The effect is slow but shows definite results.

Cold tea bags:  We all are aware of the benefits of green tea, but you may not be aware of the fact that these bags can help you to get rid of your dark circles easily. All you have to do is to soak the green tea bags in water and keep them in the refrigerator for some time. You can now place them over your eyes. Do this on a regular basis and see the difference.

Cold milk or rose water: Nothing soothes your eyes better than cold milk or rose water. If the reason behind your dark circles is constant glaring into the computer screen or tiredness, then this is the best treatment. Soak two cotton balls in cold milk or rose water and place them over your closed eyes. Leave it for 15 to 20 minutes and wash it with regular water.

Tomatoes: They are an excellent means to get rid of dark circles. Mix one teaspoon of tomato juice and a teaspoon of lemon juice and apply it under your eyes. Let it remain for about 10 minutes. Now wash it and repeat the process twice a day.

Get beauty sleep: If your eyes are tired, then the best remedy is to get plenty of sleep. Lack of sleep makes the skin under the eyes become paler so a good sleep will help to recover and make you appear healthy.

Eat well: Eating a balanced diet and drinking plenty of water has great benefits on health. Dark circles are often caused due to lack of vitamin K and B12. So eat plenty of green vegetables, fruits and take a daily vitamin supplement if essential. Reduce the salt intake, as too much of salt causes the blood vessels under the skin to appear blue.

So, if you are really worried about the dark circles under your eyes, then follow the above tips on a regular basis and see the difference.
